What CCC Instructors Are Saying
WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO THE CCC PROGRAM?
The simplicity of concept and clarity of approach, and of course the aspect of play! As a CCC student I felt that I could grasp the tasks, and that I could see the nature of our challenges and successes. - Marnie M.
I started taking CCC classes with my own dog because they looked fun. I was amazed at how much of a difference they made in what I thought was an already well-trained dog. Suddenly we had skills and connection when my dog was NOT performing a specific cue. He started to learn to relax during down time instead of offering a string of behaviors or requiring a stay. Seeing the difference in my own dog made it clear that I wanted to be able to offer this wonderful program to others! - Stephanie B.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT TEACHING CCC?
When a team will come to understand Connection more fully. It comes to different teams in various ways, and at different points in the course, but it’s always rewarding. - Marnie M.
I love watching the relief from the dogs and handlers when their communication with one another gets clearer. The simple sequences and exercises put dogs and handlers on equal footing, and seeing handlers receiving feedback from their dogs and adjusting their habits to help the dog and stay connected is awesome! - Stephanie B.
WHAT IMPROVEMENTS HAVE YOU NOTICED IN YOUR CCC STUDENTS?
In general, greater attentiveness toward their dogs, and coming to value the dog’s perspective more fully. - Marnie M.
My CCC students are much better at understanding what is happening for their dog in any given moment. So many handlers don't understand why their dog will perform a behavior perfectly one time and not at all another time. CCC helps handlers to understand what stimuli might be impacting their dogs, and how to take action so their dog can get it right! I've also noticed a big difference in my students' ability to get their dogs to relax and settle - even without asking! In a standard obedience class, it wasn't uncommon to have a few dogs who needed constant reinforcement to settle during instruction time - that faded quickly in CCC classes. - Stephanie B.
WHAT HAS ADDING CCC CLASSES TO YOUR CURRICULUM DONE FOR YOUR BUSINESS?
It has brought in more sports enthusiasts in one location. Also, it’s raised interest in me as an instructor at another training facility. In broader terms, CCC is a unique offering that distinguishes my business from other trainers'. - Marnie M.
CCC allows me to offer an alternative to regular obedience classes. Many of my students are not interested in perfecting a stay - they just want a dog who is with them and willing to participate in their activities. On the flip side, my sport students LOVE what CCC offers - it can clean up communication in agility, or make sending a dog off to search a specific area in nose work a breeze. - Stephanie B.
WHAT HAS YOUR INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION EXPERIENCE BEEN LIKE?
I really enjoyed experimenting and exploring with my own dog as we worked through the level three video submissions.
-Marnie M.
The steps stated for certification were clear and simple to follow. The online courses are outstanding, and provide a great example so that I felt confident about teaching my own students. The message boards and support system are a great help. - Stephanie B.
WOULD YOU RECOMMEND CCC INSTRUCTION CERTIFICATION TO OTHERS?
I would definitely recommend certification to others. It addresses a fundamental need absent from most curricula, and can really distinguish a training business. - Marnie M.
Absolutely! CCC classes would be a benefit to any organization - shelters, service dogs, therapy dogs, sport dogs, and pet obedience businesses alike. The classes are fun and broken down in a way that students can excel, which keeps them coming back for more. The CCC classes are an excellent complement to so many other types of training - a great way to build your client base, improve your knowledge, and keep students coming back again and again. - Stephanie B.
